Eagar family papers, 1866-1966.

Correspondence, printed material, financial documents, legal documents, and military materials, relating to the business, organizational, military, and personal activities of the family. Persons represented include businessman Robert Eagar (1830-1883) and his wife, Sarah Eagar (1842-1947); their daughter and son-in-law, Florence Eagar Roberts (1867-1969) and Harris L. Roberts (1858-1918); and their grandson, Robert Pierpont Eagar Roberts. Much of the materials relates to the involvement of Sarah Roberts and Florence Eagar Roberts in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and to their service as custodians of the Alamo. Military papers relate to the career army service of Harris L. Roberts and to the World War II service of his son, Robert Pierpont Eagar Roberts. The collection contains complete or nearly complete San Antonio newspapers dating from the early 1900s to the 1920s.
